Through a grant from SEMASS sought after and obtained by the Board of Health, this office was awarded an 8' x 10' shed for the purpose of collecting mercury products e.g. thermometers, thermostats, fluorescent bulbs, button batteries and outside thermometers.
The Board of Health is also running a Thermometer Swap Program, in that residents bring in their old mercury thermometers to swap for a free digital thermometer. There is a one per family limit. This program is designed to get as much mercury out of the waste stream as possible. |
| |
| When: Monday through Friday 9:00A.M. - 4:00P.M. |
|
| Where: Randolph Board of Health, 1 Turner Lane |
| |
The ideal way to transport your thermometer is to bring it in a plastic case, otherwise put your thermometer in a sealable baggie and handle it carefully, to avoid breakage. |
| |
| This is the first step in what will be a larger effort by the Board of Health to help reduce the Town's cost of the "per ton" disposal@ SEMASS and to do whatever possible to get the mercury out of the environment. |
